Dive Weight Estimate
A starting point for your weight check, from body weight, suit and tank. The final number always comes from a buoyancy check in the water.

Adjust from last time
Positive if you floated last time, negative if you sank. After the first dive this is the most reliable input.
Weight to start from
8.5–10kg
Shown as a range because this varies a lot between people. Start near the middle and adjust using the check below.
Always do a buoyancy check
- Empty the BCD completely and float at the surface.
- With a normal breath in, the water should sit at eye level.
- Breathing out, you should start to sink slowly.
- If you do not sink, add 0.5–1 kg. If you drop fast, take some off.
A near-empty cylinder is lighter and more buoyant. Choose the weight that still holds you down for the safety stop at the end of the dive.
